Black is the new Black.

We are finally renovating our 1980 home starting at the end of January, and after five years of planning I can't wait. The Living, Dinning room and Kitchen will be painted a really dark blue almost black through out.  The comments I have received over this decision hasn't really been, WOW that's a good idea. Its been more like, really.... are you sure...all black.
I love dark, calming, rooms with lots of atmosphere. I think in Australia we can pull off black moody rooms as the light is so stunningly beautiful.
Our home faces north, and the living room, kitchen and dinning room will have 2 sets of 4 meter bi-fold doors looking out over the pool and garden, light will be no problem. The wall finish will be in high gloss (Maximus ) Dulux paint, so the light can bounce all around the rooms. The furniture, dinning table, and chairs will be in a mixture of tan leather, light recycled woods and indigo velvet couch and armchairs. At the moment our walls are white, and I do like white painted walls, but I feel really confident in my dark blue/black colour wall choices, and can not wait to see how it all turns out.

Places to Stay and Restaurants to eat at in Byron Bay.

Christmas is here and it seems like half of Australia loves to spend their end of year holidays in our beautiful home town of Byron Bay. And being a local we know all the best eating and sleeping places   around.
On the top of our list for eating is St Elmo Dinning Room and Bar at 13 Marvel St Byron Bay.
St Elmo is serving up delicious shared plates of modern Spanish tapas dishes, and there are over a 100 bottles of wine choices, that have all been hand picked to complement the first class food that they are serving. And their cocktails are exquisite, order one from the cocktail menu, or get the bar tender to make up your own mix.

The Atlantic Byron Bay.
Our first choice of accommodation would have to be The Atlantic 13 Marvell St Byron Bay.
The Atlantic is a collection of individually styled original coastal cottages that are a mix of tropical cool, modern luxury with a laid back surf shack vibe. Only a short stroll from your room at The Atlantic are cafes, markets, boutique stores and Clarkes Beache, so if you want something central The Atlantic is the place to be.

Rae's at Wategos Byron Bay.
Our second choice for accommodation and eating out is Rae's at Wategos. Rae's would have to be the most stunning location for accommodation and AL Fresco dinning in all of Australia ( of course I am bias ). Perched on a grassy knoll, and located right on Wategos beach, this private and secluded hotel has had many a famous guest staying under their roof. Booking for their rooms and dinning is essential. Rae's restaurant is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner and open Saturday and Sundays for breakfast.

                                                                Halcyon House
Last but not least, is Halcyon House at 21 Cypress Crescent Cabarita Beach, and is the new kid on the block. Their Paper Daisy Restaurant offers coastal cuisine and the very best of regional produce. Opening only this year, it has already made a name for itself with their eclectic beach style guest accommodation. Relax and enjoy a drink by the pool, or a walk along Cabarita Beach where you will feel miles away from everything, but only a 30 minute drive to iconic Byron Bay. Paper Daisy Restaurant is opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
